DAS Meetings

The Delaware Astronomical Society meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, September through June with the DAS Board Meeting beginning at 7PM (Board meetings are open-to-all to attend to participate in discussions about plans for club activities) then the regular club meeting begins at 8 pm.  Membership is not required to attend our meetings.

The meetings are held at the Mount Cuba Astronomical Observatory 1610 Hillside Mill Road Greenville, DE.

The Great American Solar Eclispe Millions of Americans will see the sight of a lifetime when a rare total solar eclipse sweeps the nation from Oregon to South Carolina. Day turns to night for up to 2 minutes and 40 seconds and the sky's most beautiful spectacle, the Sun's corona, reveals itself in grandeur. Come to meet the DAS! Bring your own burgers, dogs, or steaks. We'll have grills for you to use! If you have a favorite picnic side make some extra to share. Bring your chairs too. Bring your solar observing scopes if you like. Catch Venus in the daytime with us in our Sawin Observatory on the grounds of Mount Cuba Astronomical Observatory. If there's enough interest perhaps we'll hang 'til dark for stargazing.

The Universe in the Rearview Mirror by Dave Goldberg will be discussed this month. Many might remember the lively presentation that Dr. Goldberg gave at a DAS meeting this past spring.
