Delaware Astronomical Society Library

"The purpose of the Delaware Astronomical Society shall be to encourage interest, and to advance education and scientific knowledge, in the subject of astronomy.”

The Delaware Astronomical Society Library was established on December 17, 1956 when René J. Van Caneghem (1920-2011) donated the first book, The Moon by George Gamow; this collegial gesture connected a fledgling band of astronomy enthusiasts to the long tradition of members of learned societies sharing their books. The collection is located at the Mt. Cuba Observatory in Greenville, Delaware. The Library is a proud member of the Delaware Library Consortium and so lends its collection of books, magazines, and DVDs on the subjects of astronomy, astrophysics, and telescopes to members of the DAS and to holders of Delaware Library cards.

The Delaware Astronomical Society Book Club is dedicated to reading and discussing books on the subject of astronomy and astrophysics and further supports the library and the aims of the Society to advance scientific knowledge.

The DAS Library’s Online Public Access Catalog, called BARLOW, is available below and also via the LibraryThing App.
