DAS Loaner Equipment Borrowing Policy

The DAS owns and maintains a collection of astronomy equipment. A benefit of club membership is the ability to borrow this equipment for personal use. The borrowing of the equipment is subject to the following.

The borrower of the equipment shall:

1.      Be a member in good standing as per the by-laws of the club.
2.      Notify the Equipment Chair or another Board Member of the club of the intent to borrow
3.      Be trained in the use of the equipment by the Equipment Chair or another Board Member of the club
4.      Fill out the equipment sign-out form for each piece of equipment borrowed. Have the Board Member initial the form.
5.      Return the equipment, through their own initiative, to the observatory within 2 months of borrowing it (we do not want to have to chase you down).
6.      Bring the equipment back to the observatory at a time that the Equipment Chair or another Board Member of the club will be there to receive it, unless another arrangement is made. Have the Board Member initial the form to confirm its return.
7.      Ensure the club’s Treasurer has updated contact information (email, phone number, and address)

If any of the above are not observed, it could jeopardize the borrower’s ability to check out equipment in the future.

If you’re interested in borrowing any of the club’s loaner telescopes or other items, please see the DAS Board page for information about who can help you sign out equipment.
